Maya beach, Koh Phi Phi Leh

I don’t think this needs too much of an explanation so I will shut up and let the photos do the talking. I managed to visit Phi Phi (pronounce Pee Pee!) Islands from Lanta so avoided staying there which, when I saw for myself how hectic, tacky, and overpriced the main tourist areas were, I was very very pleased that I had followed this cunning plan.

There are two main Islands that make up Phi Phi. The heavily populated purpose-built tourist trap that is Koh Phi Phi Don and the stunning Koh Phi Phi Leh, spot where the film 'The Beach' was filmed of course and uninhabited (bar the odd squillions of day visitors every day). Always fancied seeing Phi Phi in the flesh. Exploited yes maybe, tourist conveyer belt oh yes but simply devastating natural beauty that i wouldn’t have missed seeing for the world .....
